Crystal Grain Size

Details of the crystals are shown in general by the number of crystals that exists in the unit surface area or by the average particle sizes of the crystals. This is known as crystal grain size. In general, the metal grain becomes minute due to the high number of nucleus which builds, thus not allowing for the crystals to grow, causing the grain to become rough and minute. The slower the cooling process, the more minute the grain becomes, due to the smaller amount of nucleus created.
There is a crystal grain size index number which has been determined by converting the number of crystals that exist in a particular sized area into a number. The larger the crystal grain size index number is, the smaller the crystal particle size.
